Preach the Word
Weekly Wake-Up Devotional #21
Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:1–5 (NKJV)
“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
Paul’s final charge to Timothy was not a casual suggestion—it was a solemn command delivered in the shadow of eternity. Knowing his own death was near, Paul reminded Timothy (and every believer) that our lives and ministries are lived before the face of the coming Judge, Jesus Christ. The message is urgent, timeless, and prophetic: Preach the Word.
In these last days, the world doesn’t just reject truth—it replaces it. People are turning to comforting lies, emotional experiences, and “teachers” who tell them what they want to hear. This is the age of itching ears and diluted doctrine. Yet the call of the faithful remains unchanged: stay grounded in Scripture, proclaim truth without compromise, and endure with patience.
Prophecy students recognize this moment—our generation mirrors Paul’s warning perfectly. But rather than discouragement, this should ignite us to greater purpose. When truth is rare, truth-tellers shine brighter.
Application
This week, recommit to standing for and sharing God’s Word, even when it’s unpopular. Let Scripture be your anchor and your message.
Action: In your journal on Friday, reflect:
How did I share or defend biblical truth this week?
Did I stand firm in Scripture when it was uncomfortable or costly?
What opportunities did I take to “preach the Word” in season or out of season?
👉 The time has come when people won’t endure sound doctrine—so now more than ever, it’s time to preach the Word.
